It is about 8:15 a.m. in the Morning here. I just drove back from the
Early Morning service. And was enroute to my Hiking trip I had planned for the
day On Roxy-Ann-Peak East of Medford. So I wanted to stop somewhere in the Jacksonville
area to get a good Picture of the Peak from across The Valley. This Picture didnt come
out Quite as good as I had hoped it would. But it works. This Picture is taken about
2-Miles North of J'ville on North Oregon St. I drove up Tami Lane a ways and got
this Picture of Roxy-Ann to the right and Mt Pitt (McLoughlin) to the left and
Medford in between. McLoughlin is completely covered in snow now. But It does not show
up in this Picture. The Next Picture is taken from the Parking area on Roxy-Ann showing
the Place I took the Previous Picture from. Its very hard to see in the Photo. The Little
Brown sliver of Granite on the side of the Mt's way across the valley is where I had just been.
these Next 7 Pictures are all taken at the Parking lot area. Really it is just
where the road ends because of the Locked-Gate across the road.
Also You will see the Big-Yellow-Gate. Notice all the signs on the gate.
I was very Careless in not reading those signs before my Hike as You will see
later on.
Just a few more Pictures before I take off on my Hike.
In the Next 4 Pictures I have walked Less then a quarter of a Mile from the Car
if Even that. I kind of Realized at this Point I was going to have a bit of
a Hard time with this Hike. Took Pictures of the road I had come up and the
road ahead. And had a good view of the top of The Peak. Lots of Antennas up there.
Now I have walked (slowly) to the corner of the road. That is where the
Road would begin to go out of site of the parking area down below. It took
me awhile to get to this Point. I was not feeling as well as I thought I was.
I got up here and took a Break. I'am now at least a Mile from the Car. And I
Can't see to far ahead at this Point. But I'am sure Prescott Park is just around
the Next Corner.? Right.? Wrong.? I would go on another Mile and still not reach the
Park. But I would be able to see How much farther my Destination would be. To-Far.
I would have to Turn back at my Next Rest area. So at this first rest area I took
8 More Pictures. The Top looks closer then it really is Thanks to my digital
Camera. And in the next to the last Picture here we are looking back down
the Road to the parking area. Way down there is my Car. Sorry. It is hard to
see in this Picture. But I'am at the Point where I will lose sight of the
parking area as soon as I continue on.
Now I have walked about a Half mile further up the Road. Stoped to take
these 3 Pictures and then it was time to Move on.
This Next Picture is kind of Funny. I was getting close to the Place where
I would have to stop and decide to go back down the hill. As I was walking
along there was this Small Heard. No. Not Heard. Small Flock of Birds that
would be on the Ground in front of me Eating. Or what ever Birds are doing
while walking around on the Ground. As soon as I would begine to get to
close to them They would fly off but just a few feet at a time. And this kept
going on and on for several Minutes. It was kind of Cool. Then I thought Dan.
You Dunce. Get Your Camera out and take a Picture of them. This is the only
one that came out good.
This Picture is taken basicly in the same place as the Birds Picture was taken
Now I'am getting to the point to where I realize I'am not going to make it to
the Park. The Hill has leveled off enough that I realize the Park is still
a good half mile Further on. There is a Nice big Rock close by. It made a nice
Chair. I thought I would sit down here and rest awhile Have some water and Granola
bar or two. Then I will beable to continue on. I drank all my water and that
is a Big NO NO. After a Few minutes I knew there was just NO way I could continue
up the Hill. I would have to get on the other side of the Peak before I could see
Mt McLouglin. As You can see in the Pictures. That would be some distance away.
So As I was getting ready to start back down the Hill. A Couple of Young Gals came
a long with there Dog and told me a good place I could drive to not far away to get
My Veiw of the Mt. At this Point I didnt care anymore. I wanted to get back to my Car
The last Picture I took there was the Jet over Head.
I Reluctantly Left and started back down the Hill. I didnt take anymore Pictures
Untill I reached the corner where I could see the Car agine. I'am half way there now.
I continued on down the road untill I found a Bench to sit on and Rest. I made my
Last video there. And then began the Remaining few 100 feet to the car. Another
Hiker past me on the way down.
Once back down to the Gate. I decided to read the Sign on the Gate. I think
it would have been a good Idea to have read that before starting the Hike. And finnally My
Car is in sight. Does it ever look good.
In this picture I have driven down the road part way when I noticed I could
see The Moon. Had to get a Picture of that.
Once I got down to the Black-Top. I thought I would go check out the Veiw
those Girls told me about. They were right. It's not as good of a Veiw as
I remember from the back side of The Peak. Still very nice.
