Today I had no Plans to be out taking Pictures. But Here I'am agine. My day started off at Church. After the Service I was just going to hang around and visit for awhile in the Coffee shop. But there was hardly anyone in there to Talk to. So I sat down at the Coffee Bar and began a Conversation with the New Blonde Gal there. That was going good untill Her School-Girl-Freinds came In and sort of took over the converstation. Wow. I could not understand anything Those Gals were saying. Funny. They were talking so fast and allmost in a diffrent Language. How things change when you get older. So I thought Well Dan. This would a good time to stop by the Log-Town-Cemetery and continue my Search for Frank Carters Grave. So I started Heading that way. While I was driving I was thinking to my self about my Freind JR. And why He didnt show up at the Service. He called me last night and said He would.? And then the Next thing I know. I'am about a whole mile PAST Log-Town-Cemetery. Drove right past it. Didnt even Know it. Oh well. Will do that another Day. So in these first two Pictures I'am In J'ville. Parked on North Oregon. Next to the Post-Office. A Good Place to start Snaping Photots.

In the Big white building there on the corner Is the Jacksonville Barber Shop. It has allways been there. And May still be the only one in town.? The Small green part of the Building is the Barber-Shop.
In this Picture I'am looking up South Oregon St at the very Old Red-Brick-Building. That was the Original City-Hall.
Still standing in the same place. I'am now Looking East down the street.
Now I have crossed The Street with-out getting Ran over. I'am so Happy. Now I'am standing in front of the Barber-Shop And we now see the Original Bella-Union In the Red Building. In Recent Years the Bella Has exspanded into the White & Green Buildings to the Right of the Picture. When I was a little-Boy Growing up in J'ville. the White & Green Buildings were not there at the time. What ever had been there was either tore down or Burned down at some point. It was just a Vacant Lot full of Weeds & Junk back then. And the Red Building was a Old Store called the Cracker-Barrel if I'am not mistaken. That was 40 years ago. And then in later Years it became a Delicatessen called ""That Store Delicatessen"" I also Remember a Staircase going down into a Basement. I dont know if That is still there or not. The Bella is a Place I would Love to work at..There used to be a Small Bakery in the Building to the Right of the Green Building.

This is The only Electric Neon Sign allowed in Jacksonville. It is protected under (The Grandfather Clause) That Means it has been there so long. (way before I was Born) The City can not take it down. Its Original Location Changed a Few Years ago. The J'ville Tavern's (I Know it Well) Original Location was in the Big Building on the Corner of California (Main) Street. And Third Street. In the Next Picture I'am standing on Third Street looking West up the sidewalk. That Building with the Horse out front is the Original Location for The J'ville Tavern. Shell Used to Drink there a lot according to Mom way back in The 40's & 50's..

In this Picture I'am still standing in the Middle of Third St. I simply have turned around 180 Degrees and Am now facing Slightly NE. Here we see another Place I wish I could work at. The Jacksonville Inn.
I have now continued to walk East down California St a little over a Block and have now just crossed fouth st. I'am standing in the Parking area of what used to be the Arco Gas Station in town. I'am on the other side of the street now. And in this Picture we see a small Mexican Resturant. When I was Growing up in J'ville this Building was the Jubilee Club. Resturant & Bar. Old Ed Coffman would get His Free Meals there at the Jube. My Dad used to Hang out there. Along with Frank Carter. Larry Boyd. And a Host of Others that are all Long gone now.
Still standing in the same place. I have done another 180 and Am now looking at the wall of what used to be the old Arco Station. Now just a small Garage. What you see there is a Statue that was made way back in the 70's of Frank Carter. He was the Police Chief for Years & Years. (I still can't find His Grave in Log-Town-Cememtery) It was made of old Car Parts. I dont know who made the Statue. The Arco was owned and Operated by a fellow named Loyd Rassmusens.

Staying on the same side of the Street now. I continue walking East. A very short way to the Next Cross st. fifth & California. You see there across the intersection a Building. The Sign says (Jacksonville natural Health Pharmacy.) Back in the 70's that was the only other Gas station in town. Owned and Operated by Dick Legg. We saw His Grave in the J'ville Cemetery. He and His family lived behind the Station. It was a Shell Station. My Dad would never do Business with Him. But they were still Freinds I Guess. I'am not sure if that is the original Building or not.? Daisy Creek runs right behind it and it used to be open. with a Bridge over the road. Its all been covered Now.
Now I'am standing on the corner of the Main Drag. 5th & California Streets. I'am now looking North down California and we see on the other side of the St the little Building. That is the Mustard-Seed Resturant. A Place I have been in 100s of times in My life. It was My Dads Favorite Place to go when I was growing up. It was Owned and Operated by Curly Graham and His Wife.??? Oh I'am so sorry. I can't not Remember Her Name.? Sometime in the late 70's Curly Had a Heart-Attack while working in the Resturant. He died a few Years later. On the Other side of the Mustard-Seed is the big jacksonville Museum. My Freind Jr & I wanted to go check out the Museum last month. We found it closed. They dont have enough funding to open it to the Public. How sad...

Now I have walked back to the West part of town via C Street. And now we see. the Old Train Depot. I know this is the same Depot that was around in 1969. I dont know if it is the Original Depot from the 1800's It does not seem Possible I Guess. I dont know?
This little Building is on 3rd Street. Close to the Police-Station. If you walk down the ally next to this Building You will run into the BBQ Area of the Bella.
Standing in the same place as the last Picture. We now see the big Building on the corner of 3rd & California. That was the old J'ville Tavern. And in the foreground we see one of the Old Water Wells discovered in 2004. Interesting.

Now we move on to the Cemetery. I had only a few Pictures to take up here. But You know. Things don't allways go as Planned. I parked in the Middle of The Cemetery on this day. The Building you see is The Sexton Tool House. With the Hole in the Floor. Gross. Anyway it was built it 1868 And on the other side of it is another little Visitors Building. NOT old. It was Built sometime in the last 10 Years. The Next Eight Pictures are all taken in the same General Area. Including my Favorite Plot in the Iron Fence. The last picture will show the Original Gate that led into the Cemetery in the very Beginning. You can see how small it all started out so long ago.

Albert Hackert.. when we lived on South Oregon St. (our second House in J'ville.) The Hackert's lived directly across the street from us. The Hackert House was very unusual indeed. A one of a Kind. Albert was allso the Sexton for the Cemetery during those early Year of Mine growing up in J'ville.

Kelly Burg was a Girl from Jacksonville. She was a few Years younger then I. I honestly can not remember what She looked like. And I'am sad to think of that. She was Freinds with my Little Brother & Sister. And other People I knew. Kelly & another Girl named Rhonda were up in the Applegate near the Mckee Bridge Area Drinking and Driving in Rhonda's Car. They got into a Wreck. Kelly was killed. My Sister told me a few years ago Rhonda took Her own life in 2006 after a life time of Drugs & Alcohol Abuse.
In these next two Pictures we see the Public Rest-Rooms and the Cemetery shop area. These two Buildings are in the very bottom of the Cemetery.

In these next two Pictures I was walking around in the very bottom of the Cemetery. A Area where new Graves are being Placed. I found this Plot. The Maudlin's I whent to Jacksonville Elementery with A Maudlin. I dont know if this is His Parents here or Not. Probably is. And in the picture after that we see agine the two Buildings at the bottom of the Propertie.

I was about done in the Cemetery on this day. I had one more Grave to Photograph and I was taking a short cut to find that one. And I just accidently stumbled across this one. I Imediately Remember the Name. "Wendell Matheny." I had forgotten all about Him. He and my Dad were freinds way back then. Wendell had some sort of a Second Hand store.? I think. And I think it might have been just about where that coffee shop is now. Across from the Car wash. I think.?
These are the last two Graves I Photographed on this Day. These are Omar Culy's Parents. Buired Near His Grave. I didnt know them of Course. And I Guess I'am kind of Assumeing they were His Parents.?

Now walking back to the Car to go home. Some Fog had began to Roll in. Made for a nice closing Picture. walking past the Flag Pole I notice it was Dedicated to "Wayne Maxson." I knew Him. He sold us our Family Plots. I Guess He is Dead now. I dont know.
